Assignment 6

This assignment was about portraits.

This is a picture of my friend, Kim. I took one picture with both of her eyes fully open and another with both of her eyes closed. I combined them to create the perfect wink.

This is my cousin, who is very girly but laid-back. I superimposed the floral pattern (which is actually my bedspread) over the original image.

Kim is a first generation American. Her parents moved to America from Poland when her mom was pregnant with her. Kim is proud of her heritage and has been to Poland many times. The largest Polish words mean "Made in Poland"...... because she was. ;)

This is another photo of Kim. She is a senior in college and it is finals time here and so everyone is trying to finish everything in time. She plays tennis and is a full-time student, so I added the clock overlay to the photo to emphasize the passing of time.

This is my brother Davis. I added three other exposures of him on top of the original figure.

Everyone always says how much my 3 brothers and I look alike, so I thought I'd check it out! Davis is the main figure in this photo. The long curly hair is mine, along with the darker eye on the left. The mohawk and smile belong to Davis's twin, Charles. The nose is Kent's. I think this is a horrifying picture, but I do see the resemblance!

Assignment 5

This assignment was about landscape. We had to do 3 "straight" or unedited landscapes and three manipulated ones from the same location. I chose Bay County and Panama City Beach, FL.

I wanted to show the natural side of PCB, so I took a picture of the dunes and the stairs and added the rocks and my boyfriend walked towards them. I added a shadow to make him look more realistically present in the picture. It's difficult to tell what has been manipulated, which was intentional to echo the message about the natural atmosphere.

A pier restaurant in Bay Point in PCB. Unedited.

The Bay Point Marriott in PCB. Unedited.

There is a large military population in PCB, especially because it is on the coast, so I took this photo of a pier and added the military helicopter and the words to represent this.

View from the condo in Bay Point. Unedited.

This photo represents the commercial side of PCB. I took a picture of the pier and the condos and hotels and added the beach lounger and the sign.

Assignment 4

This assignment was about light & color.

This photo was taken in Panama City Beach, FL at the state park. I love how the trees make this look like an African scene.

This photo was taken at the San Antonio Zoo.

These are the orchids my roommate got from her boyfriend for Valentine's Day.

This photo is from the San Antonio Zoo as well. Isabela, this 2-year-old I babysit, is in the foreground. I love watching her learn.

San Antonio Zoo.

Lanterns at Dave & Buster's.

Two of my favorite people got married and this was the wedding cake! The butterfly theme and wedding colors are pretty obvious!

San Antonio Zoo butterfly house. The butterflies land all over you!

The tree outside the reception hall at the aforementioned wedding. The curve of the tree makes this picture interesting.

Assignment 3

This assignment was about Depth of Field (where the focus is). We could either take 6 or 7 random photos, or we could choose to produce a series of images from the same location, which I did. I chose something fun and whimsical: a playground!

This and the two below it show great depth of field, which means everything in the foreground and the background is in focus.

These two show shallow depth of field in the foreground, meaning the background is in focus.

These two show shallow depth of field in the background, which means the foreground is in focus.

Assignment 2

The assignment was about motion and night scenes.

This is called a panning shot. That means you make a panning motion in the direction the subject is moving while taking the picture. The background is supposed to be blurry with the subject being the only thing in focus. This is my only successful panning shot!

This is one of my favorite stores at the Alamo Quarry Market (the mall) in San Antonio, TX. I like showing texture and light in my photos, and I enjoy both in this photo.

This is a photo of a string of lights that I turned on. I held the aperture open while moving the camera around, which is how the lights appear to be moving.

This is a stop motion shot, which means that the entire photo is frozen in time.

This is a stop motion as well.

These are car lights on the highway. I took these photos by holding the aperture open on my camera while holding the camera steady and the cars were moving.

This photo shows a blur of motion. The background is in focus, but the subject is in motion and is blurred.

Same!

A special thanks to my model, Kimmie!

Digital Photography Assignment 1

The first assignment was Composition. We were required to do the first 3 assignments in B&W, but I personally prefer color (for those of you who know me, that's obvious!!!!)

I know this is disorienting being crooked, but that's what I like about it.

I like the idea of the faucet providing water/life to the tree in the cemetery.
